Future Ambition: I learnt from school that inaccessibility to a dependable energy supply hinders industrial development in my country, The Gambia. Energy is undoubtedly the lifeblood of many sectors. The Gambia is behind in industrial growth, and it depends almost entirely on importation. Often, I would hear the populace talk about the effects the erratic electricity supply has on our banking system, education system, and other works of life which rely on electricity. Moreover, looking at our agriculture, I realized that agricultural output is low, and the reason is that agriculture is not mechanized. The farmers are still using simple farm tools and implements to till the soil. Thus, as a concerned citizen, I made it a goal to study mechanical engineering and develop my nation and sub-Saharan Africa at large.
