What is necessary for children who lost their loved one is to be able to talk and express their feelings. Through that experience, children know that they are not alone.
There are at least 140 million children who lost their parents (UNAIDS/UNICEF/USAID collaboration 'Children on the Brink 2004') to various causes such as war, terrorism and AIDS. Most of these children live in developing countries and do not have opportunities to receive emotional care.
ASHINAGA invites these chilren to the International Summer Camp for Orphans every summer. At this camp, children who bear the same sorrow gather together, and talk about their experieces for the first time and share their feelings transcending all the differences, such as languages, nationalities, religions and ethnicities. Then they know that they are not alone so they start walking heads up toward the future.
