Ashinaga Brasil
Ashinaga Brasil is the South American partner of the Ashinaga Foundation, one of the largest non-governmental organizations in Japan.
Established in São Paulo in 2019, Ashinaga Brasil provides orphaned students from Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa (PALOP) with the financial and socio-educative support they need to become young leaders for their communities. As part of the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI), Scholars are selected because of their leadership potential and ability to identify issues and come up with viable solutions while studying at top universities in Brazil.
Ashinaga Brasil also implements local programs focussing on South-South Cooperation, such as the Trilateral ProEDU-MozBraJa program, leveraging Brazil’s position as a leader in the Global South and increasing engagement with regional partners. The organisation also runs an overseas training program for Japanese students wishing to gain experience in Brazil, as well as for Brazilian students who wish to explore Japan.
