Country of Origin: Nigeria Home Country: Japan Undergraduate Degree: Transnational and Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Innovation
Justina is an AAI Scholar from Nigeria, studying transnational and inter-disciplinary studies in social innovation at a school in Tokyo. In March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, Justina decided to use her confinement time to pursue an online class called “Becoming a Global Citizen for a Sustainable Society.” This course has deepened her understanding of sustainability, SDGs, and what defines a global citizen. She shared that it pushes her into challenging her own assumptions by embracing and exchanging different perspectives of revolving issues all over the world. By obtaining such insightful knowledge, her ideas, thoughts, and approach to several issues such as global justice, poverty, gender equality, and eco justice have become more analytical.
Among many projects, she is also working on an Ashinaga Proposal research for prisoner’s reformation in her home country and is doing a lot of research to try understanding what a good solution to this issue would be.
