Great East Japan Earthquake Orphan Support Fund to Close to New Donations
Since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, Ashinaga has continued to support children who lost their parents in the disaster, including those affected by the tsunami. Thanks to the generous support we have received from individuals and organizations in Japan and around the world, we have been able to provide a wide range of assistance, including scholarships and emotional care programs.
Today, more than 90 percent of the children who lost a parent/their parents in the disaster have reached adulthood. In addition, the operational structure for the Rainbow Houses in Ishinomaki and Rikuzentakata is gradually shifting toward a model led by the local communities. In light of these developments, we have decided to close the Great East Japan Earthquake Orphan Support Fund to new donations as of March 31, 2026.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported this fund over the years. Your generosity has enabled us to continue standing alongside these children and their families.
Although we will no longer accept new donations for this specific fund, Ashinaga will continue providing support to those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Drawing on our experience, we remain committed to offering compassionate, individualized support that honors each person’s unique journey.
