Esther W. Dungumaro, holds a PhD from Hitotusbashi University Tokyo, Japan. In addition to her PhD, Dungumaro received a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Education and a Master’s degree in Demography both from the University of Dar es Salaam. Currently, Dungumaro is the Principal of Mkwawa University College of Education. Before her current position, Dungumaro was the Director of the Institute of Development Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam. Before then, she was the founding Director of International Relations of the same University. Her dedication and commitment lead to her nomination to attend the executive leadership training at Harvard Business School (HBS). In her capacity as Director of International Relations, Dungumaro had participated in cultivating relations between the University of Dar es Salaam and various universities and organisations across the global. In her current capacity, as Principal she continues to look for new collaborations and cultivate the ones existing. She is also an active member of professional associations and continues to attend and present papers. in conferences. This has kept her updated on current debates in her area of specialisation. As a sociologist and demographer, she conducts research and publishes in areas of orphans, women and children.
