Data Science, Ashinaga HQ
Since having first worked for Ashinaga eight years ago, Xan is one of the longest standing foreign staff. Over this period he played a key role in the internationalization of Ashinaga, from a Japan-based organization to having offices in 7 countries around the world. On behalf of Ashinaga, Xan has contributed to a wide range of educational projects in Asia, Africa, Europe and America. From public speeches to selecting scholars, he has always been passionate about working closely with our students.
In 2013 the Ashinaga delegate to The University of Oxford, led by President Tamai, selected Xan to be in the first ever cohort of Ashinaga Interns. He then returned to Japan in 2014 to manage the expansion of the Ashinaga Internship program from 15 to 100 students from around the world. The following year he was offered a job consulting and managing a team of fundraising and marketing specialists. He worked in this capacity to shore up Ashinaga’s online presence and introduce a variety of new fundraising practices until he returned to university to take his masters in 2018. With a degree in Computer Science under his belt Xan returned as a published Data Scientist, with the goal of modelling Ashinaga’s data to actively contribute to data driven decision making.
